VIA Collaborative Arts Corporation’s (VIA’s) mission is to develop live, multi-media performances, interdisciplinary work, and installations that conjure and uncover lost tales through the body, develop an intimate relationship with audiences, and celebrate untold narratives. Established in 2004, under the leadership of co-founder, dancer, choreographer, and director Adrienne Westwood, VIA’s work has been presented in parks, theaters and historic homes, as well as through flip books, voicemail, and live and recorded Zoom sessions. Through its educational programming, VIA has also led workshops at colleges and universities, elementary and middle schools, and movement training for professional artists.

Together, Adrienne and her collaborators devise, choreograph and synthesize close to two decades of practice to develop live, multi-media performances and installations. They conjure and uncover lost tales through the body, develop a liveness and an intimate relationship with audiences, and celebrate untold narratives. By creating with multiplying processes, the group’s work aims towards a meeting place where private and common, past and present, singular and plural mingle. Together, they mine histories and memory to create probing, questioning, works that combine embodiment, text and object. Their works are image-right and evocative, and by design are open to multiple interpretations – successfully inviting each audience member to bring their full, complex histories with them, honoring these, and making space to consider both individually and collectively, “what is long ago, but still right now?”
